You might think we’re not doing anything since I haven’t posted in 5 weeks.  We have, I just haven’t taken many good pictures.  This was a fun smaller wedding, simple and my favorite textures of bright summer-ness.  Orange Callas, Yellow Asiatic Lilies, Orange Ranunculas, Yellow and Green Cymbidiums, Yellow Oncidium Orchids, Billy Balls, Lily Grass, Israeli Ruscus.

Last minute bridal bouquet

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Twice in the last month I have had last minute bouquets.  By last minute I mean I get a call at 10 for a bouquet at 11.  I have been very surprised but pleased with what I could scrounge up last minute….IMGP3451

Ranunculus are so sweet and romantic with layers of tissue like petals.  They come in both brights & pastels.  They add great variety to bouquets and are super cute in boutonnieres and corsages.

I love Coxcomb in bouquets for it’s super unique texture and dimension.  It’s definitely for brides looking for something different.  It comes in a variety of colors including green, yellow, pink, orange and red.

Lily of the Valley come in white and pale pink and can be the perfect charming and subtle addition to your day.  For me, they also have sentimental value.  They are my first flower memory, growing in the shade of my Grandma’s backyard.  I admired them even before I knew what they were.

Blue Hydrangea and Delphinium

Blue Hydrangea & Delphinium Bouquet by Flourish Designs

It seems that blue is a fairly popular choice when it comes to weddings.  Pretty blue flowers are a bit harder to come by.  I am not a fan of dyed or painted flowers but there are some oh, so pretty options like Muscari & Hydrangea.  You may also find Delphinium, Cornflower & Gentaina in true blue varieties.  A few purple-y blue hues include Anemones & Hyacinth.

Anemones are so pretty, delicate & somehow a little vintage looking.  I can’t help but love them.  They are in season from December to May and come in a variety of colors, the white with black centers are my favorite!
