Really? Really.

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Another Utah florist snapped this picture while delivering flowers to a local funeral.  Really.

There are so many problems with online ordering/national wire services.  In my year and a half as a shop owner I have received dozens of calls for incoming orders for delivery in rural Manti from almost all of the national wire services.  100% of the time I do not have the products they have sold to their customer and I hear from them “just do whatever, I can’t find anyone else to fill the order”, true story.  Besides that, unless I insist on receiving 100% off the order total (not every service will even give a choice), I (and every other non-affiliated shop) only gets 80% of what the customer paid but still must fill the order to the full amount.  So the wire services pockets 20% off the order total PLUS the $10-$15 they charge the customer to place an order.  For what?  For relaying the order, that’s it!  I’m just touching the surface on how dishonest and misleading the process has become.

What am I to do, you ask? My husband and I actually have a new project in the works!   If you are a flower shop and would be interested in knowing first what our new project is, send me an email, or comment with your email address.  We’re a few months out, but have exciting plans for making a transparent, honest, FREE option for educated shops and customers to send flowers outside of their hometown.  Really.  It’s going to be awesome.

Corsages

or Borsages as we call them now in 2.5 year old flower design school at Ruby Bloom. Prom was 2 weeks ago and I’m still recovering. So much work! I think we’re catching on here a little. I only had one Mother ask me to nearly die and wire up a “extremely traditional” corsage. I am not a snotty florist, some people just have to dig.

On it’s way out the door today.  The Ranunculas are stealing the show in my opinion with those pink Parrot Tulips coming in a close second.  But then, that’s always my opinion!

Incredible images by Junelle of Yes & Amen Photography.

This bouquet is hand-tied with black satin ribbon beneath the cascade.  This style is often requested but offered a feminine elegance in this case.

Flowers used: Dark Purple Calla Lilies, Turquoise Hydrangea, Dark Purple Ti Leaves, Dark Purple Ranunculas, White Anemones, Purple Tulips, Fern Curl, Italian Ruscus
